Karmelo Anthony’s family is taking heat online for allegedly blowing through over half a million dollars in donations and asking for another $1.4 million.
The teenager has been charged with first-degree murder for the stabbing of Austin Metcalf earlier this year, and his family had raised over $500,000 via GiveSendGo.
Despite receiving said amount, they recently requested a public defender, an obvious suggestion that they aren’t able to afford one for trial.
Of course, this hasn’t gone down well, at least not on social media.
“This is the first time I’ve felt bad for Karmelo. Yes, he murdered a kid.But his family raised money off of evil public sentiment ostensibly to provide for an excellent legal defense, then kept it all for themselves. Truly an evil family,” one user wrote.
“The family knows he’s guilty and he’s going away so they’re just trying to grab as much money out of it as they possibly can,” said a second.
“They pulled an easy scam 😂. Now they have brand new house and a brand new car,” another claimed.

The Anthonys are asking for the $1.4 million so they can seek safe relocation following death threats, as well as for legal expenses, security equipment, counseling, legal counsel, and a team of investigators.
Karmelo Anthony’s mother, Kaya Hayes, had previously denied using the donations on a new house and car. It’s also said that the family is not one of little means and has always lived in a posh, gated community.
Meanwhile, a date for the murder trial has not been set. Karmelo remains under house arrest.

“When the last note dies, but the soul of the nation still sings…” On a golden night in Austin, Willie Nelson stood under the stage lights for the last time, guitar in hand, tears streaming down his haggard face. At 92, the living pulse of country music was met with an eight-minute ovation that would resonate across generations—a farewell not just to a legend, but to the spirit of an era. When he whispered, “I don’t think anybody wants to hear me sing anymore,” the crowd roared back, “Forever, Willie!” In the front row, his closest friend, Dolly Parton, wept unabashedly, her heart breaking with the world’s. This was more than a concert—it was a moment when time stood still, and America embraced a man who had given everything he had, wanting nothing more than to sing.
