“Just Throwing Away All Morals For Cash”: Everyone Is Furious With WWE Following Brock Lesnar’s Controversial Return At SummerSlam

Wrestling fans are ripping on the WWE for bringing back Brock Lesnar at the end of Sunday’s SummerSlam 2025 pay-per-view.

After a two-year absence, Brock Lesnar made a surprise return to attack John Cena at night two of SummerSlam 2025. The 17-time World Champion lost his WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes in the main event via pinfall.

Lesnar was kept off WWE television after being named in the federal lawsuit that Janel Grant filed against the company, accusing former WWE chairman Vince McMahon of sexually assaulting and sexually trafficking her.

According to Grant’s lawsuit, McMahon offered Lesnar a sexual encounter with Grant as part of negotiations on a new contract for the former WWE Champion.

WWE faced significant backlash immediately after Brock Lesnar’s return at SummerSlam:

“So, this guy is named in a sexual assault lawsuit. Just throwing away all morals for cash, huh? I nearly threw up when I heard his music,” one fan wrote.

“The crowd is stunned but also looks uncomfortable if im honest” asked a user.

“What happened to that TKO blacklist?” wrote a fan.

“No wonder they’re not doing press conferences anymore lol,” a user said.

“The return NO ONE asked for. #SummerSlam,” a fan commented.

“Good thing football is coming back so I can watch even less WWE than I already do,” another said.

Vince McMahon was never afraid to cross the line and spark controversy with his business-making decisions as WWE chairman, such as continuing the 1999 Over the Edge pay-per-view after Owen Hart’s tragic death.

McMahon may not be in charge anymore, but Triple H and TKO Group Holdings clearly aren’t worried about the backlash and criticism they’ll face.

Lesnar and Cena have had several major on-screen feuds over the years, and it looks like their rivalry will continue one last time before the latter retires at the end of 2025.
