Inside the Private Life of Hillary Vaughn and Peter Doocy: From Intimate Wedding to Welcoming Baby Bridget
Hillary Vaughn and Peter Doocy, both familiar faces on Fox News, are known for keeping viewers up to speed on everything from politics to finance. But recently, the spotlight turned to their personal lives as the couple welcomed a new member to the family—Bridget Blake Doocy, born on February 1.
The Fox News White House correspondent and the Fox Business journalist tied the knot in a small, intimate ceremony in South Carolina back in April 2021. Their wedding plans were originally scheduled for January but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 18 guests were in attendance.
Peter’s father, Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy, shared that the wedding was a heartfelt occasion. Serving as his son’s best man, Steve delivered a touching speech—complete with a family tradition: poetry. He admitted he got choked up near the end, overwhelmed by memories from Peter’s childhood.
“It couldn’t have been more perfect,” Steve recalled. “The food, the weather, the love—it was all beautiful.”
Fox News later aired a sweet montage of wedding day moments. Peter looked sharp in a tuxedo, while Hillary stunned in a flowing white gown. The couple was seen sharing smiles as they cut their multi-tiered cake together.
Fast forward over a year later, and the couple had even more exciting news: Hillary was expecting. The reveal came during a live cooking segment when Steve introduced a recipe from The Simply Happy Cookbook, joking that it was perfect for someone who’s “always hungry.” Hillary chimed in with a smile: “That’s because I’m eating for two.”
She later confirmed the baby was due in late January. Sure enough, Bridget arrived in early February in northern Virginia, weighing eight pounds and one ounce.
Speaking with People, Hillary humorously reflected on how her job had prepped her for motherhood. “I guess all those years chasing down lawmakers on Capitol Hill was just training. Getting a baby to answer you isn’t all that different,” she joked. “‘Bridget, are you hungry? Sleepy? Gassy?’ It’s like trying to get an official statement!”
She also revealed that her water broke on her way to Capitol Hill—an appropriately dramatic twist for a political reporter.
Peter, meanwhile, shared a light-hearted detail: White House staff, including Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, had fun suggesting names for the baby. “She actually gave me the green light to name the baby Karine,” he laughed.
The happy news came not long after Fox anchor Kayleigh McEnany returned to Outnumbered, following the birth of her second child, Nash, with husband and former MLB pitcher Sean Gilmartin last November.
