AUSTIN, TEXAS – The ABC daytime talk show The View has frequently criticized tech mogul Elon Musk, especially since he publicly aligned himself with former President Donald Trump.
In recent months, the show’s hosts have taken multiple jabs at the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, mocking his political views and controversial public statements.

Amid this ongoing tension, a viral claim has emerged on social media platforms alleging that Musk called for a boycott of The View and insulted it by labeling the show a “gathering spot for ignorant women.” But does this claim hold any truth?
The Claim: Elon Musk described The View as a “gathering spot for ignorant women”
A post that gained traction in February 2025 suggested that Musk took aim at The View‘s all-female panel, calling them “ignorant women” and urging a boycott of the show.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “Elon Musk called for a boycott of The View, describing it as a ‘gathering spot for ignorant women.’ The hosts fired back immediately!”
Numerous blogs jumped on the rumor, claiming Musk made the remark on social media, which allegedly provoked a fiery response from the show’s panelists, according to fact-checking site Snopes.
The Truth: There is no credible evidence Musk made this comment
According to Snopes, there is no legitimate source or verifiable post confirming that Musk ever made such a statement or called for a boycott of The View.
A thorough search of Musk’s X account using keywords from the alleged quote turned up no results, and there was no indication that he ever referred to the show in those terms.
Additionally, a Google News search for “Elon Musk The View ignorant women” yielded no coverage from reputable news organizations reporting on such a statement or any boycott campaign initiated by Musk.
Some blogs claimed that The View hosts addressed Musk’s alleged remarks in a subsequent live episode, but none of these claims included a specific air date or clip as evidence.
Previous Incident: Joy Behar’s apology over apartheid comment

Interestingly, in February 2025, The View co-host Joy Behar publicly apologized after falsely stating on air that Musk was “pro-apartheid.”
During a segment criticizing Musk’s support of Donald Trump, Behar remarked that Musk was “born under apartheid in South Africa” and referred to him as a “foreigner” and “foreign agent.”
She then claimed, “He was pro-apartheid, as I understand it.” After a commercial break, however, Behar walked back her statement, admitting she had no solid proof.
She told viewers, “I’m getting heat for saying Musk was pro-apartheid. I honestly don’t know if that’s true. He might’ve been just a kid back then. So Elon, please don’t sue me.”
